Priorities
I’ve been MIA because of a deadline coming up, and I really want to make it for personal glory (what else could possibly motivate you?). Then it finally occurred to me yesterday that me, myself, and I am up against teams of people working on the same thing, at universities and from companies. Granted, it’s a tough image segmentation problem, due to inherent variabilities across the population and pathologies.
Some day, I will put something together explaining how difficult computer vision is, and how we take our sight and ability to visually analyze what we see for granted. It’s incredibly complicated — and one of the reasons I believe robots will never take over the world. At least not until processing power and RAM capabilities and hard disk space catch up with the problem’s needs…
